Have you ever stopped to stare at people’s gardens while passing by their homes? This question might sound intrusive, but it is true. Gardens are such a beautiful part of people’s homes, and it reflects so much about their personalities and lifestyle. They are attractive and scenic, and once somebody starts investing their time in gardening, it is tough to stop or retract. This activity of planting trees, vegetables, shaping, and landscaping gardens does not only beautify someone’s property but also has been proven to be therapeutic. The importance of having plants around the house might not be something someone isn’t aware of, but it has somewhat lost its importance with time is concerning. This lost hobby results from many factors like lack of space for gardening, infertile or untillable soil, highly polluted cities and towns, and sometimes people simply aren’t much into this activity which is entirely a personal choice.

How is gardening therapeutic?

 When someone raises and nurtures a child, they tend to take all the responsibilities and expect nothing but happiness and health to the growing child, and this act is entirely selfless. The act of gardening is not the same, but the idea is very similar to it. When a person buries a seed and slowly observes it fighting through the soil to get its first sunlight, which has been a result of religious care given to it by them with a constant supply of water, air, sunlight, and manure, it would be a huge achievement for them. The efforts behind this entire process of planting and beautifying the open and unused land are enormous. When a person dedicates their energy towards such a holistic approach, they expect only positive results, and this thought itself is therapeutic. They channelize their anxiety to a better cause, bringing them hope and a better understanding of many aspects of life.

Is gardening cost-effective?

 The answer to this entirely depends on how you want your garden to look like and the variety of plants that are going to get a place there. It all depends on what type of investment you wish to do. Some put up small fountains, mini sculptures and to accentuate the look of their beautiful landscape, while some keep it neat and tidy while trimming the bushes regularly, and it still looks pretty. There are rare and expensive flowers and vegetables, and there are also easily available ones that are not much expensive-whatever a person chooses to grow. It will require more or less the same effort and dedication. It is not the content but the efforts that matter here. The idea of a garden is to keep you motivated for growth and progress brought to you by nature that you nurture.

Conclusion

 People have their ways of coping with the grief of any kind, but the one that has nature attached to it has proven to be the most successful. There are several ways to connect to nature, but gardening has so far been the most convenient way to understand the complexities of life and extract learnings from it.
